My career started in advertising account management. Juggling the needs and wants of clients, creatives, producers and planners. I loved the people aspect of the industry: the politics, the collusions, the drama of it all. There are a great many very smart, interesting and driven characters in that world. Sadly, I wasn’t remotely interested in the business of the business.
I left to train as a therapist and, to support that, I took a ‘day job’ as a recruiter in the industry. What distinguished us from other firms was our commitment to helping our candidates fully understand what it was they wanted out of their next move and their career, taking in to account the broader context of their life in general.
For several years I balanced my work with my therapeutic training. When the moment came to choose which path I would follow full time it was a singularly easy if surprising choice.
My value to my clients in the commercial landscape was evident and had tangible results. My approach was, and still is, to listen deeply and offer an informed perspective, rooted in psychoanalytic training and deep experience in the creative economy.
